Palace Hotel - Southend-on-Sea, Essex
Contract value: £1.4 million
Air conditioning only: £800,000
Main contractor: Dolta Co. Ltd
This project was carried out as part of the Yiannis Group's £28 million refurbishment of the Palace Hotel.
AAC designed, supplied, installed, and now maintain 33 Daikin VRV systems, made up of 185 fan coils. We used a typical hotel configuration for the 135 bedrooms. Concealed bulkhead units to each room were installed in the ceiling above the entrance hall, controlled by Daikin simplified wall mounted controller.
For the restaurants, conference rooms and common areas, Daikin's well-known "Roundflow" ceiling cassettes were used. The whole air conditioning system is centrally controlled by a Daikin "I Manager" PC based system, which was installed behind reception.
All external condenser coils were treated with "Blygold" to protect against corrosion from high levels of airborne salt in the coastal area.
This was our first time using AAC and they easily exceeded our expectations, not just at site level but also with their administrative infrastructure.

Palace Skyline luxury apartments - Southend-on-Sea, Essex
Contract value: £130,000
Main contractor: Dolta Co. Ltd
The Yiannis Group cleverly perched 16 luxury glass apartments on top of the Palace Hotel by adding two new floors. With fantastic uninterrupted views of the estuary and surrounding areas and to continue the luxury theme, AAC were asked to design, supply and install a cost-effective, aesthetically pleasing solution for those hot summer days. Keping the Daikin theme of the Palace Hotel, AAC installed 66 wall mounted fan coils connected to 26 split and multi split roof mounted condensers. All external condenser coils were treated by "Bronze Glow" to protect against corrosion from the high levels of airborne salt.
This was a much smaller job, but it was given the same levels of care and diligence as the hotel works. We continue to use AAC wherever possible because I like my life to be simple!

The Old Post Office - Letchworth, Hertfordshire
M&E contract value: £87,000
Air conditioning only: £25,000
Main contractor: Ashe Construction Ltd
This old Royal Mail sorting office was converted into ground floor offices and first floor affordable housing flats by North Herts Homes. The housing developer provided AAC with an outline design, which we developed into a bespoke solution for the building, installing a Mitsubishi Electric City Multi Heat Pump system and 9 ceiling cassettes.
Raleigh Close - 1 - Hendon, Greater London
Contract value: £23,000
This house had undergone a "back to brick" refurbishment with major extensions to the side and rear. AAC designed, supplied and installed a Daikin multi split system. This system was comprised of four 5MXS90 multi splits linked to 3 bulkhead units, 6 slim line wall mounts and 2 low level flexi units. Although we were not working for the main contractor, we had a close working relationship with them and with the interior designer.
AAC came to us highly recommended and we were more than satisfied. They are a professional, reliable and innovative team that met every expectation.
Gali Spitzer, homeowner
Raleigh Close - 2 - Hendon, Greater London
Contract value: £25,000
After completing the first Raleigh Close project, Mr and Mrs Spitzer recommended us to neighbour Mr Manderer. His house had also undergone a "back to brick" refurbishment, with a major double storey rear and loft extension. AAC designed, supplied and installed the same Daikin multi split system as that of his neighbours. The main contractor was the same firm who worked on the first Raleigh Close project, and once again we maintained a close working relationship.
Classic House - Old Street, London
Contract value: £475,000
Landlord: L&S Property Holdings
Managing agents: Nobel Harris Property Management LLP
This 6 storey office block in central London has 6000 square feet of space on every floor. The property's air conditioning was operated by a 14 year old Toshiba R22 VRF heat pump system. AAC removed the old system and installed a brand new Toshiba R410A VRF heat recovery system.
The installation itself was simple, but the project was complicated by the fact that every floor was occupied. In order to minimise disruption, most of the work was carried out at night, and we ensured that everything was cleaned and reinstated at the end of every shift. In addition, the old external plant was removed and the new system was lifted up to the sixth floor by crane over three Sunday mornings, rather than during the week.
